New TETRA Radios for Cologne Public Transport Authority
Sepura Partner SELECTRIC has won a tender to supply Sepura radios, software and training services to Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG, Cologne's Public Transport Authority.
As critical communications professionals once again return to Cologne for this year's PMR Expo, Sepura and its German Partner SELECTRIC Nachrichten-Systeme GmbH are pleased to announce a new contract with the city's public transport authority, Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB). The fourth largest municipal public transport company in Germany, KVB operates about 400 trains and 330 buses, which are used by an estimated 900,000 passengers every day in the areas of Cologne and Bonn.

Focusing on secure, reliable communications, this latest procurement is designed to bring uniformity to the authority’s fleet with Sepura's latest SC Series hand portables, as well as ensure the deployment of feature-rich, cutting-edge devices.

KVB began its market research at the start of the year and subsequently issued a tender for the procurement of new TETRA radios alongside a range of accessories.
Core requirements for the new devices were full interoperability with existing Airbus TETRA infrastructure and encryption to preserve the security of communication.
SELECTRIC built a compelling and comprehensive bid comprising hardware and software, multiple training courses for KVB employees, lightweight carrying accessories, and clear and robust audio accessories. These will ensure the system is easy to use and will enhance the day-to-day experience of the service and security staff at KVB.
