Radio Features Download

Please order using the part numbers below.

DMO-Repeater

In locations where normal TMO network coverage is unavailable or unreliable, users can switch to off-network direct mode to maintain communication. To increase the distance over which two direct mode users can operate, place a Sepura radio operating as Repeater in the middle. Calls made from one radio via the repeater will be rebroadcast to other users.

What types of call are repeated?

✔ Voice calls (encrypted and clear)
✔ Tone signalling
✔ Group Status and SDS messaging
✔ E2EE supported
✔ Emergency calls

Other key features:

✔ The radio, operating as a repeater, can also take part or monitor the repeated calls (this can be optionally disabled in Radio Manager)
✔ Uses ETSI Type 1A operation for efficient spectrum use (over a single 25Khz RF channel)

Repeater capability can be ordered with a radio using the following part numbers

> When ordering with an SC20 series radio order 600-00261
> When ordering with an STP9000, STP8X, SRH or SRC range radio order 600-00004
> When ordering with an SRG series radio order 600-00005; or, when ordering as a package with DMO-Gateway, 600-00007

Gateway

A Gateway creates a communications link between network users (TMO) and off-network users (DMO). The gateway will re-transmit information received from the network to the off-network DMO users and vice versa.

This means that users who cannot connect to the network, perhaps because they are working in a network blind spot such as in a tunnel, or deep within a building, can continue to work off-network with their local DMO team of users.Plus, via the locally positioned SRG gateway, usually in a vehicle with its high gain antenna parked where it can access the TMO network, users can stay in communication with other users and the control room, relaying communications via its powerful TETRA RF engine.

Key features:

Man-Down

Man-Down allows hand-portable radios to automatically detect lack of motion and/or abnormal inclination and raise an alarm if the user appears to have become incapacitated - ideal for fire-fighters and anyone else who would normally be in motion whilst working.

A covert operator, or anyone who remains stationary for long periods, may customise Man-Down to raise an alarm only in case of abnormal inclination, suggesting that they are lying down.

NEW - Profile by talkgroup (available March 2017)

Allows status messages and GPS position reports and emergency voice calls to be routed to a destination other than the default. This feature is ideal for users who may have to visit other operational areas. The GPS location information is automatically routed to the local control room just by changing their talkgroup.

Status messages can now be sent directly with fewer key presses than ever before; or to a destination in the phonebook, to the current talkgroup or to a dialled destination.

Feature applies to:

> For SC20, STP, SRG and SRH series radios order 600-00347

NEW - Network selection by talkgroup (available March 2017)

Enables the radio's automatic selection of TETRA network based on the talkgroup's mobile network identity; the press of a single key changes the network and selects the talkgroup.

> For SC20, STP, SRG and SRH series radios order 600-00348

NEW - DMO/TMO selection by talkgroup  (available March 2017)

Simplifies use by enabling the radio to automatically select the correct operating mode - trunk or direct - depending upon the selected talkgroup.

NEW - Extended Preferred & Fixed location area list  (available March 2017)

Radios can be configured with a list of up to 150 preferred location areas (LAs), which are favoured when acquiring a cell at switch-on or during re-selection. If coverage gets weaker, the radio will register on LAs outside this list, unless configured to use only cells from the preferred LA list, even when coverage drops.

Similar groups of users registered on the same LA ensure efficient use of TETRA resource. A typical usage of this feature would be in an aircraft-based installation where dedicated ground-to-air TETRA sites are available.

> For SC20, STP, SRG and SRH series radios order 600-00351

NEW - Shortcut and notification bar + dynamic home screen  (available March 2017)

Shortcut and notification bar
Provides a quick and intuitive user experience: gives rapid access to favourite features (shortcuts), indicates missed calls and messages, and clearly shows changed states, such as speaker mute or transmit inhibit.

Dynamic home screen
Radio Manager allows the fleet administrator to customise the home screen - adding or removing information; altering text colour, size and position - allowing it to better reflect the users' needs.

First introduced on SC20 series radios, these popular features are now available for STP and SRG series radios. These features are automatically enabled for SRG series radios when used with HBC3 and/or SCC3 consoles.

> For SC20, STP and SRG series radios order 600-00354

End-to-end encryption

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) offers an additional and independent level of security to AIE. Encrypted data can only be decrypted by the correct combination of the algorithm and traffic key used by the transmitting party to encrypt the data.

The following options are available:

Please contact your account manager to discuss your requirements.

Class 3 RF, high-power mode

Allows the SC20 to operate in high power (2.7W) class 3 RF mode - rather than the  default (1.8W) class 3L RF mode - extending operational reach beyond the typical capabilities of a hand-portable radio. Available for all SC20 series radios using new SC20/STP standard-capacity (300-01174) or high-capacity (300-01175) batteries.

> For SC20 series radios order 600-00249

Security Class 3G

The TETRA Air Interface is encrypted using one of the TETRA Encryption Algorithm (TEA) ciphers. Data and signalling are encrypted, providing confidentiality against eavesdropping and protection of identity.

Security Class 3G offers Air Interface encryption in trunk mode operation using a group cipher key (GCK), enabling crypto separation of talkgroups. Each group can use different cipher keys, ensuring secure communication among its users.
