Sepura has recently closed a significant deal with Ibiza International Airport in Spain.
The contract was won in conjunction with Telvent, Sepura's world-wide partner and distributor. Ibiza International Airport joins Sepura's growing list of international airport customers, which includes Seville, Granada, Hanover, Birmingham, Roissy-CDG and Orly.
Airports are fast moving and demanding environments, especially with the heightened need for security, that provide one of the toughest tests for communications systems. TETRA has proven to be an excellent solution, delivering the reliability, security and functionality required in airports.
The TETRA radios selected from Sepura's product portfolio include the mobile SRM3500, the hand-held SRH3800 sGPS, with a fully-integrated and ultra-sensitive GPS module, and the gateway SRG3500, a mobile radio capable of extending network coverage.
The radios will be used by a variety of airport services including security, maintenance, signalling and emergency services (fire brigades and ambulances). Telvent's TetraNode solution will enable the integration of Sepura's TETRA terminals with the existing PABX and VHF ground to air radio communications systems.
Victor E. Martinez Zepeda, Telecommunications Commercial Director for Telvent, said: "The AENA (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea) group has once again chosen Sepura; the reasons behind this decision include Sepura's reputation as the world-leading supplier of TETRA terminals and the unbeatable support and warranty conditions offered by the Cambridge-based manufacturer. In addition, Sepura radios are robust, rugged and already tested with over 1,000,000,000 hours of operational use world-wide."
Martinez Zapeda added: "The delivery terms of this project consolidate our position within AENA, the Spanish Airport Authority, as the leading TETRA equipment supplier for airports in Spain. Our TETRA solution has helped them to make significant improvements to their daily operations."
