The Municipal Police of Almeria in the Andalucia region and the Municipal Police of Valladolid in the north of Spain selected Sepura TETRA radios for their secure digital communications. Sepura worked with its partner Telvent to win both contracts. Telvent, the Global RealTime IT Company is headquartered in Seville. The Municipal Police of the town of Almeria chose Sepura’s hand-held and mobile terminals with sGPS™. The radios replaced the existing analogue radio equipment and were used for the first time to secure the 15th Mediterranean Games which took place in Almeria this summer. The Police of the city of Valladolid are using a fleet of over 500 hand-held and mobile TETRA terminals. In Valladolid over 500 hand-held and mobile Sepura radios are being used by the city Police as part of the implementation of a modern digital communications solution. Jens Thostrup, International Sales Director for Sepura commented “These public safety wins in Spain are extremely significant as they follow the outstanding landmark success that Sepura achieved with the Catalunya Police and Fire contracts won in spring this year. We look forward to the wider adoption of TETRA in Spain and feel sure that more Spanish public safety organisations will recognise that Sepura TETRA radios can meet their secure communications needs”.
